The concept of health in Chiesi has a larger meaning, including also the well-being of the Planet. We want to act as force for good and minimize the negative impact in the contest we work in. A particular focus of our activities lies into initiatives and projects dedicated to the quality of the air that we breathe.  Chiesi is a pharmaceutical company that mainly works in respiratory area, with the objective of taking care of respiratory health with a 360° perspective, including every related aspect.

The health of the planet is then one relevant topic for us, and we are committed to adopting a responsible model of consumption and production, in order to minimize the impacts on the environment and preserve resources for the future generations.

During our work we are careful to continually improve our environmental performance, minimizing at minimum our emissions and the exposition to chemical substances.

Our Sustainable Chemistry Policy is dedicated to the responsible management of chemical substances used for Research activities. The policy addresses both the environmental safeguard and our employees’ safety, with the ambition to be always above the best standard of health and safety.

Moreover, we encourage our suppliers to operate responsibly, through the sharing of best practices and the monitoring of their activities. At the end of 2018 we joined the PSCI network (Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Initiative) with the aim of contributing to the sharing of great practices for a responsible supply chain in the pharmaceutical sector.

In 2016, we started to implement the company’s HSE guidelines (health, safety and environment) in all our affiliates in the world. These guidelines concern every site: system of production, R&D centres, sales and logistics offices. All our manufacturing sites are moreover certified with the ISO standard 14001:2015.

In Chiesi the environmental sustainability means solid activities, such as:

  • the environmental analysis, based on the Life Cycle Perspective model, monitoring the whole life cycle of our products (Research & development, production, distribution, usage and final disposal of the product);
  • the Carbon Footprint Analysis for our greatest products in respiratory area and for our production process;
  • our new Headquarters, being completing, will host more or less 600 people and it was designed to be carbon neutral and achieve the Gold LEED certification;
  • the JOJOB car-sharing project, to reduce the CO2 emissions due to the use of cars.
